RESUMO: No campo literário contemporâneo, encontra-se a obra de De Gados e Homens (2013) de Ana Paula Maia, romance que mescla em sua narrativa ficcional componentes estéticos do estilo cinematográfico de Quentin Tarantino e do realismo e naturalismo brasileiro, constituindo uma obra que se ambienta em um cenário violento e se caracteriza por uma poética bruta. O objetivo deste trabalho é analisar as formas de representação e a constituição da violência na obra De Gados e Homens, assim como os elementos que constituem o protagonista Edgar Wilson. Como aportes teóricos, entre outros autores, utilizaremos as reflexões de Slavoj Zizek (2012) sobre a violência na contemporaneidade e os estudos críticos sobre a poética de Ana Paula Maia realizados por Elena Soler (2017).

ABSTRACT: In the contemporary literary field, there is De Gados e Homens (2013), by Ana Paula Maia, a novel that mixes, in its fictional narrative, aesthetic components of the cinematic style of Quentin Tarantino and Brazilian realism and naturalism, constituting a work that takes place in a violent world and is characterized by a rough poetics. The objective of this article is to analyze the representative forms and the composition of violence in the novel De Gados e Homens, as well as the elements that constitute the protagonist Edgar Wilson. As theoretical framework, among other authors, we will use the reflections of Slavoj Zizek (2012) on contemporary violence and the critical studies on Ana Paula Maia’s poetics carried out by Elena Soler (2017).
