RESUMEN: El objetivo de nuestro artículo consiste en intentar poner de relieve la originalidad y la riqueza expresiva e imaginativa del libro de Ángel Olgoso titulado Breviario negro en su manera de tratar y de reelaborar toda una serie de temas relacionados con la escenificación fantástica del horror legendario, gótico, monstruoso, y con la exploración visionaria de lo onírico, lo oculto, lo apocalíptico. Observaremos cómo el autor enfoca la escritura del fenómeno extraño e inexplicable desde la perspectiva de lo “fantástico posmoderno” deteniéndonos en los procedimientos descriptivos y narrativos empleados, y en el tipo de retórica y de poética escogida para evocar los enigmas de la identidad y la transgresión de los esquemas ordinarios de lo natural y lo racional.

ABSTRACT: This article is aimed at highlighting the innovation and the expressive and imaginative power of Angel Olgoso’s Black Breviary through the analysis of the ways it takes over and redevelops a whole series of themes related to the fantastic dramatization of legendary, gothic, and monstrous horror, as well as to the visionary exploration of the oneiric, the unseen, and the apocalyptic. I will observe the author’s approach to the strange and inexplicable phenomenon from the standpoint of the “postmodern fantastic”, closely examining the descriptive and narrative devices and the kind of rhetorical and poetical strategies chosen to express the mysteries of identity and the transgression of the ordinary rules of the natural and the rational.
