RESUMEN: En el siguiente texto se lleva adelante una reflexión eco-crítica tomando como eje de análisis la novela Relato de um Certo Oriente (1989) del escritor manauara Milton Hatoum. A partir del concepto rector de «devastación» la deriva benjaminiana que propicia la especulación teórica hace dialogar algunos fragmentos de la narración con categorías provenientes de ese corpus. Mediante tres movimientos analíticos se intenta dar cuenta de este tránsito por el terreno de la ecología con un tono de alerta y preocupación.

ABSTRACT: The following text analyses the novel Relato de um Certo Oriente (1989), by Milton Hatoum, from the perspective of ecocriticism. Considering the guiding concept of “devastation” the Benjaminian variation that enables the theoretical discussion sets into dialogue the fragments of the narrative and the categories derived from this corpus. In the face of this three-fold analytical moviment we aim to walk you through the field of ecology sounding a note of alert and concern.
