Este artigo versa sobre as representações de gênero, ou transgênero, encontradas na ficção de Al Berto, especificamente na novela Lunário, de 1988. À luz das reflexões de Joan Scott (1995) e Judith Butler (2003), relaciona-se a experiência contracultural dos anos 1960 e 1970 às representações que o autor enseja. Nesse sentido, observa-se a desconstrução da fixidez da categoria “gênero” bem como o binarismo que a subjaz, por meio das relações estabelecidas entre o contexto histórico-social em que Al Berto se insere e seu estilo literário marcado por um profundo tom lírico. Nota-se, portanto, a inserção de subjetividades transgressoras, tais como as personagens Beno e Kid, que não se fundamentam em perspectivas normativas ou identitárias, mas reelaboram valores sociais hegemônicos, a partir da necessidade de narrar suas vivências, baseadas em uma ontologia de contestação às normas de gênero.

This paper approaches representations of gender, or transgender, found in Al Berto’s fiction, specifically in Lunário, from 1988. Through the reflections by Joan Scott (1995) and Judith Butler (2003), the countercultural experience of the 1960’s and 1970’s is related to the representations made by the author. In this sense, deconstruction of fixity of “gender” category is observed, as well as binarism that underlies it, through the relations established between the historical-social context in which Al Berto is inserted and his literary style marked by a deep lyrical tone. Therefore, one can see the insertion of transgressive subjectivities such as the ones found in the characters Beno and Kid, which are not related to normative or identity perspectives. They re-elaborate hegemonic cultural values, due to the need to narrate their experiences, supported by an ontology of contestation of gender norms.
