Flâneries lapougeanas em Belém do Pará
Resumo
RESUMO: O presente artigo tem por objeto o papel da cidade de Belém em Noites tranquilas em Belém (2015), do escritor francês Gilles Lapouge. O romance tem por enredo a tentativa do narrador, um viajante francês, de viver a vida de um cidadão belenense, a partir do momento em que um menino o confunde com seu pai, que partira para a Guiana. O narrador passa a ser tomado por Luís Carlos e abraça a oportunidade de realizar o que considera uma viagem absoluta, isto é, um mergulho profundo no espaço e na cultura estrangeiros. Acumulando “vivências” no sentido de Benjamin (1987), o narrador erra pela cidade ao modo do flâneur baudelairiano, conferindoaos espaços belenenses importância capital na construção de sua identidade, cindida entre o Brasil e a França.
ABSTRACT: The object of this article is the role of the city of Belém in Noites tranquilas em Belém (2015), by the French writer Gilles Lapouge. The novel has as plot the attempt by the narrator, a French traveler, to live the life of a citizen of Belém, from the moment a boy mistakes him for his father, who had left for Guyana. The narrator is recognized as Luís Carlos by the other charactersand embraces the opportunity to undertake what he considers a true journey, that is, a deep dive into foreign space and culture. Accumulating “experiences” in the sense of Benjamin (1987), the narrator wanders through the city in the manner of the Baudelairean flâneur, giving the spaces of Belém a major importance in the construction of his identity, split between Brazil and France.
